SPS | From the Beginning...
Snow Park Solutions was conceived in 1999 by terrain park specialist Darrin Schmitz as a terrain parks and special events consulting company. At the time, Darrin had an already impressive resume of building terrain parks dating back to 1993, having built one of the first terrain parks in Canada at his home mountain of Hemlock Valley Resort. In those early days the company was nothing more than a bank account number and a sick new logo drawn by longtime SPS friends and future world renowned graphics team Pete Chickloski and Paul Dyck.
Early projects included terrain park builds and management at Hemlock Valley Resort and Mount Seymour as well as several ski/snowboard video shoots and terrain park design and construction for the Disney/Spyglass/Touchstone Pictures film Out Cold. In 2000 Darrin added Drew Lamb, a local shred and master fabricator, to the SPS family. With this new pairing, Darrin was finally able to bring his innovative rail and box designs to reality through Drew’s precision fabricating skills and a whole new world to Snow Park Solutions was born
As the new millennium progressed, so did an increasingly new demand in terrain parks. Rail and box features were becoming wildly popular among the local park shreds and the demand for newer, bigger and better features rapidly became more than most ski areas could handle on their own. At the time, Snow Park Solutions was already building features for a select few ski areas and summer camps and as word spread of our innovative designs and bullet proof construction, demand for Snow Park Solutions features started to explode. Our main focus shifted from terrain park/special events consulting to feature creation to keep up to the demand and on January 1, 2007 Snow Park Solutions officially became a company, taking up residence at “The Farm” in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. Over the years since then, Snow Park Solutions has continually grown, expanding our list of clients all across Canada and into the United States. In 2009 with business at an all time high, Snow Park Solutions brought a second master fabricator to the team, Clayton Grozdanich. Much like Drew, Clayton is a snowboarder allowing him to bring both riding experience and precision fabricating to the family. 2010 to present has seen Snow Park Solutions continue our tradition of terrain park innovation and advancement, most recently having pioneered the “city influenced” style of terrain park features now copied around the world. From the largest corporations to the smallest of ski areas, Snow Park Solutions has earned its reputation as the number one terrain park feature and equipment supplier through hard work, quality construction and groundbreaking designs all at a price tight budgets can afford.
